‘Per Haps’
Robin Young, based in Borrego Springs, California works in mixed media focusing mostly on collage and contemporary art making. Her focus on collage art using magazine clippings, masking tape, wallpaper, jewelry, feathers, foil etc. allows her to develop deep into the whimsical and intuitive. From large, life-sized pieces and 3D sculptures to small postcard-sized arrangements, Robin's keen eye and gripping esthetic guide her viewers into her own semi-readymade world. Repurposing these nostalgic images for lighthearted and sometimes disquieting messages.
Per Haps
What happened, happened, if what happens happens.
However, what will happen might not happen.
It will only happen if it will.
Otherwise it will not and become
what did not happen. Still it will become
something, albeit what did not happen,
just as what will not happen will become
what has not happened. Therefore what will be
and what will not be are about the same.
Their common elements, obviously,
are what and will and happen, maybe be.
The difference is invisible, nonverbal,
and, I believe, a bit akin to hope.
