to a diluted distraction

as darkness deals us

death threats

at our doorsteps

broken glass

in our garden beds

cyanide chafing against

our calloused cynicism

even so, i will hold your hand

while we enliven

dollar-store candles

discussing the distance

between day's end, dawn,

and the dissolution

of dignity

Mackenzie Landman views her poetry as a study of the music between moments, drawing influences from the seasons and the sharp side of softness. As an entrepreneur who holds a BA concentrated in Media Studies, when she is not writing Mackenzie can be found keeping up with the latest movies and television shows.
