Strangers on the San Francisco-to-San Jose Express

A sweetness, a smile, a serenity, a vision

amid loud drunken louts aboard the train

somehow above it all she avoids a collision

oblivious to the boorish boasting postgame.

Amid loud drunken louts aboard the train

she notices an old man trying to disappear

oblivious to the boorish boasting postgame

as he rides in sober quietude, destination unclear.

She notices an old man trying to disappear

compliments his ballcap’s monarch butterfly

as he rides in sober quietude, destination unclear

she exudes aura of botanical garden, sanctuary sky.

Compliments his ballcap’s monarch butterfly

her exit exquisite more like daydream arisen

she exudes aura of botanical garden, sanctuary sky

a sweetness, a smile, a serenity, a vision.
