Maggots Bellies

The time will come
when I will go

I will decay
and I will grow
and die again
a million deaths
in maggots' bellies
and maggots' breath.

A million maggots
remove my brain
like severed links
of rusted chain

A scattered conscious
crawls out my ears
and disengages eighty years

To find new life
in a million forms
be washed away
by violent storms
but never again
by infinite chance
to mesh into
a human stance.

Worm to humus
to a root of grass.
Graveyard sand
crushed into glass.
A drop of vapor
in the sky
that's blown into
a cow's black eye.
A sparrow's lunch
on the road
and the dust that
helps my box corrode,

A million threads
spun a million ways
in omnipotent circles
of endless days...
