Lit Up Dust
—for Joey
White moths flight lights the far-off galaxy’s dust
on this moonless night. In southern Spain I find
you just off a turnpike. Your absence a flood
gate always patulous like stomata allows
the leaf to flourish. After the shot, you left
the dark web, the rifle, a single bullet.
I find you. Three exotic planets before you
I find you between worlds, white robed.
You stroll the sky. I dream you, vibrant green.
& fuchsia. Your breath, jasmine. In the Coldplay
song, You’re a sky full of stars spirit shepherds
your way into earth’s night. You only find dead
vestige here, future cut short. Find your bed where
your mother now sleeps. City Of Mirrors open
on your Kindle. At the dresser your untouched
quarters, still. Your Mega Man poster remains.
Your spirit leaves through the Mt. Fuji panel.
In blackness, only the star’s luminous light.
