‘Instrumental Interlude’

Artist Keunhoo Park

instrumental interlude

walking within the

music, i get tangled in

the c[h]ords—

i don’t know

you.

you wrap my fingers around

the words as

my knuckles flex—unwilling—

the lyrics of this song,

long gone

i know you

walking through the

music

your steps

are unhurried and sure,

leading me

through the melody

i know

the song is about us

and our life together as

strangers

i see you balance on

the electrical wires

far above

my head—

i reach up in

a foolish attempt to

catch your shadow—the

music is following you—

you are stealing the music

away—

you know me

you jump and

twist and spin on

the wires—not caring that

they sway in the breeze—not

caring that I dangle

from your shoelace

you know

my life is trapped under

your fingernails and—

you’re

stealing my music—

our music?

perhaps,

i should embrace the

weightlessness,

become the sound
