‘Taboo’
Artist Kiera Fisher
Taboo
Fascination of taboo
Elevation to renew
We have joined the zoo, the zoo, the zoo.
Fishes with legs and pigs with no heads
Lions with no mane and elephants in chains
Meerkats in hats, parrots in chat.
Grizzly bears in chairs, chinchillas with no hair,
Snakes with no fangs, toads croaking slang.
Cheetahs with halos, whales that stay low.
Llamas with bandanas and oxes with spanners.
Foxes with pipes and dogs on bikes.
Tigers with young and spiders with tongue.
Eels with harps and sharks that eat tart.
Larks that sing foul and shrews that can howl.
Chickens with scales, cats with no tails,
Chameleons that print and eagles that squint.
Camels that hunt and cows that don’t grunt.
Peacocks in veils, lizards that read brail.
Giraffes that don’t bow and wolves that don’t row.
Goats that eat cheese and crabs that will tease.
Hyenas that snore and mice that can roar.
Otters with no homes and sloths stealing thrones
Yes we have joined the zoo, the zoo, the zoo.
Represent a world so bent.
Let’s save a few, a few, a few.
Build the boat, craft the crew. Find horizon so new, so new, so new.
All aboard! Two by two by two.
Send that dove out!
A message so true, so true, so true
And it flew, it flew, it flew.
And did it return? I hear you say.
Did it return to its crew?
No, it flew and it flew and it flew.
Maybe it shall return one day.
The skies turned from light blue to dark hue and back again as winds blew.
That departed dove’s arrival was due, was due, was due.
