The Wound of Almost

This is the scar left by people

Who almost loved you right

Who told you what you wanted to hear

Who saw you just enough to make you believe

Who touched your soul,

Only to walk away without warning.

Not out of cruelty or indifference…

…but with fear and cowardice.

And that almost is its own kind of heartbreak

One that stings a little more

One that hurts a little longer

One that makes you feel like nothing

One that leads to self-doubt

And makes you question everything.

Because you’re left grieving what almost was…

…and what could’ve been.
